To say this is my second book Iv read from Oliver. Her other series Iv read from her was the delirium series which I loved minus it’s ending.  But to start out this book is very interesting since its 2 stories in one with some events going on same time since both pov of characters are together but thought process is diffrent. But ways could read it were lyra’s story then Gemma’s  who are the main characters and that’s how I read this book. 2nd way is Gemma’s then lyra’s, or last but not least keep switching chapters lyra’s then gems or vice versa.  But story starts off for way I read it lyra’s whole life is just routine since she in this place where always going for tests see if can do things right and so on. Most people who are nurses treat her like crud like she is a lab rat. Minus a few. Just one day she is out and place explodes and she found a opening to escape she is undecided if should go since she is afraid but does anyways and finds Gemma. Gemma’s story is her family treats her like she is a little baby always, plus since get go always has been sick. & her dad is never home given he is a politician and owns 6th biggest pharmaceutical company  and mom high on prescription meds. One day altercation breaks out between her dad and mom and hears some info that surprises herself and is out to go seek the information she heard so her destination is this place called the heaven.  

Lyra’s story: personally I didn’t find this to much fun to read since mostly since everything to her seems dull mostly because of her start. But even as slowly learn what she is by Teaching herself to other things just all basic stuff and don’t go into how character devolves which isn’t much but also because doesn’t know much I know not her fault but it bored me. 3.0/5 stars 

Gemma’s: now this part of story I loved at the start she is so scared to remotely do anything plus wanting freedoms since her family always treating her like a little kid so finally she has enough and sayes going to Florida with her best friend. While waiting for this trip you hear of the heaven explosion. Hears something things about her the place and decides go fishing for information, thru the book you see her become this shy little thing to a person wouldn’t want mess with so i liked that aspect and details she finds. Plus Gemma’s whole side is action packed and reason this book is a 4 star instead of 3. But Gemma’s side 5/5 stars
