As can see this was my first beach day of the year and I started this book right at the beach. But this book is about a girl named emika where about have no money and dealing with eviction notice. To make ends meet she hunts people who made bets on the insanely world famous game called warcross since your not supposed to and this game has changed the world since it’s everything people do. You can walk down the stores and see people with like virtual pets clothing crazy avatars and this is normal life. But besides being an ok bounty hunter she is a great hacker. And last night before she is being evicted is the start of tournament for the Great Warcross players. And some items in it are sooo rare and if she can sell the items she could instantly buy her debt only way is if she hacks the system or find a glitch. Which being the tourney system going to be so hard. Well she finds a glitch and gets the item instead of disappearing she is transported to the games and be canes instant sensation. Suddenly from no one to being invited to be a player in the games, sorry not greatest explanation for the book. But this was my first Marie lu book and gotta say I really really fun read Marie explains her world very well while still making it interesting but takes awhile near 100 pages. But this is a mix of pop culture and gaming was really cool and I feel my gaming friends would enjoy this book. I don’t want to say much more but I can’t wait for book 2 since its plot twist was crazy did not see coming and heard Marie is very known for this and sorry bad review. One of more fun stories Iv read 5/5 stars
"Each of you has a long road ahead. It will be hard at times, but if you work together and stay true to one another, nothing will bar you. Alone you are weak. Together you are strong. So says the universe."
I'm so disappointed in myself that I talked myself out of meeting Neil Patrick Harris at Bea this year. He was signing copies of this and I didn't want to wait. Now I'm kicking myself because this book was so good and magical. Everything about this grabbed my attention and didn't let up. 🙃🙃
Carter is a runaway. After escaping the clutches of his evil "Uncle" Sly Mike who is nothing but a no good pick pocket. That's not the life Carter has set for himself. After his parents disappeared, he has been finding a place to belong. And now he is riding the rails to his new forever home.
He gets off in a small town of Mineral Wells and runs right into the show of B.B. Bosso's. Which Carter comes to find out is nothing but tricks and thievery.
Carter meets a colorful cast of Magicians who bond together and help people get back what truly belongs to them before one of the biggest heists happens in that very small town.
From the start, this reminds you of The Series of Unfortunate Events. The way the words flow even down to his mannerisms, this is NPH trying to be his counterpart L.S. It took some of its character away from the final overall review. Besides that, I thought this was a well thought out magical mystery that will razzle dazzle you. Opens your eyes to the middle-grade world and show you that you can be an adult and still enjoy some wacky humor and intrigue.
Now! Now! Anyone want to see a trick???
Going into this book I was excited since its Alexandra Dang bracken even though I disliked with a extreme passenger which only read second since was a dualogy but thanks to darkest minds still Alex is a instant read for me. But going in I’m finally getting ready for fall so been reading fall books and this was the start. But this book is about a kid prosper who hasn’t had such a great life what ever he does just frowned upon of extremely disliked in his town that his family started years and years ago. You would think he would be a celebrity but Nooe really disliked.why does his family hate him is because years ago his family made a deal with a fiend or in my mind one of the devils of the underworld and that deal was if they received all this good luck and fortune but come certain year he will come for like your soul or something well the family finds out a way to kill/ trap the fiend. You learn they failed and one bloodline of someone goes away he will be back well he ends up in the mind and body of prosper. And is trying come back alive to take revenge for the family ooooo in ghostly voice. But yea I soooo enjoyed this Alex makes the perfect world right in perfect for fall and it’s middle grade but to show friendship in ways don’t expect I loved. In all else that’s the biggest. Plus the cliff hanger for this book was sooo bad but sooo good I’m dieing for book 2 and this book has became a book I’ll read for many years. 5/5 stars. ~~~JUSTIN
“He’s sweaty– his shaggy blonde hair is sticking to his neck– but it’s the good kind of sweaty. The sexy kind of sweaty. Wait. Why am I noticing his sweat? Why am I noticing anything about Wesley James? I should be focusing on my master plan to get him fired, not about how sexy he looks or whether or not he smells good.”
This was a very quick read. The storyline caught my attention with a broken family, love and some kind of revenge. I wanted to be hooked but I felt more annoyed and awkward throughout.
Quinn is a huge bitch with an ego to match. The grudges she holds and the vendetta she has against Wesley is downright cruel and completely unnecessary. Quite a few times she goes above and beyond to make his life as miserable as possible. And all of this over something she doesn’t know the full story about. Yes, I know, we have all been in that place. Something we heard when we were younger breaks a friendship and things get thrown around. But that’s it! When it’s over… it’s over. We grow up and move on, but not for our girl Quinn.
Wesley moves back to town and wants to reconnect with Quinn. She has plans of her own. She’s gross and appalling at her schemes and tricks. If you didn’t hate her before you will definitely hate her when she uses a guy who has a crush on her to make Wesley jealous. And all Wesley wants is to be loved and liked.
If Wesley was a real person, I know too many girls who would jump at the chance to be with a genuinely nice guy. Quinn is just an evil asshole with a childish demeanor. Her petty games ruined this book.
The thing that got me was the smoochy lovey dovey ending. We all knew what was going to happen but it didn’t make it less cute. I loved dreaming of new love in a different place. Living in her grandmothers footsteps.
And don’t get me started on the crazy family drama. Talk about a definite save!
Now go out, explore, and fall in love!! 😍
