The Epic Crush of Genie Lo by F.C. Yee

High school girl? Check. Good grades? Check. Have to save the world from demons? Whaaaat? Genie Lo thought she was just an average high school student with her only worries being about volleyball, family, and grades. That all changes when she finds out she is meant to save the world from demons with the help from no one other than the Monkey King! I luckily received an advanced copy of this fantastic Chinese folklore tale and my review can be viewed here. This is such a wonderful read, I highly recommend picking this up. And even though I have already read it, it is still one of my most anticipated releases for August. The Epic Crush of Genie Lo is everything I hoped it would be and more!

The Hearts We Sold by Emily Lloyd-Jones

This is the second installment in the Burning Glass series. I highly enjoyed Burning Glass and I am looking forward to the continuation of Sonya’s story! Kathryn Purdie is a great storyteller and she weaves such beautiful writing into her stories, so if you have not already read Burning Glass, you need to now!

Plus, the amazingness that is Leigh Bardugo wrote this wonderful piece of work, so it is no question that I’ll be at the bookstore on release day. If you love superheroes and girl power, Wonder Woman: Warbringer is a book you do not want to miss!
