When fifteen-year-old Chloe mysteriously disappears, the rumors at Grammaire Hall point to murder, but spiritual entrapment isn’t the same as dead. In a library that’s believed to be nothing more than a myth, Chloe’s spirit is separated from her body after witnessing another student’s murder. Try as she may she can’t remember what happened to her before she woke up as a spirit in the campus graveyard. As Chloe uncovers clues leading to the mythical library’s location and her body, a secret the Magical Parliament doesn’t want to get out, starts to unravel. Rogue sorcerers have infiltrated the school, intent on reinstating the Third Edict, and sorcery students are dying because of it. Destroyed long ago for horrific crimes against humanity, the return of the Third Edict would spell disaster for both magical and magicless societies. To prevent her own demise and the fulfillment of the Third Edict’s return, Chloe must find a way to reunite body and soul without giving the rogue sorcerers the weapon they need to succeed, a weapon only Chloe can activate.

~An Interview with Lynn Veevers~

Thank you so much, Lynn, for the interview, and welcome to A Court of Coffee and Books! CHLOE SHIPTON & THE QUILL OF LEFAY sounds like an amazing book!

Describe CHLOE SHIPTON & THE QUILL OF LEFAY in five words.

Magic, Murder, Mayhem, Mystery, Fiction

How did the idea for CHLOE SHIPTON & THE QUILL OF LEFAY surface?

My twelve year old daughter is a voracious reader. After reading the Harry Potter Series, which she loved, she came to me with a request. She told me she loved the series, but was sad it was over, and so she wanted me to write something in the same vein, but with a female protagonist that starts out older and is female. She also wanted the main character to look and act like her.

Does Chloe exhibit any character traits you relate to?

She is bookish and pretty laid back. She is also a loner and very quiet.

Who was your favorite character to write and why?

Zanthus, he is a different breed of Character that has a very specific…We’ll call it charm and appeal.

If you had to go on a magical adventure with any character from your book, who would it be and why?

Sophie, I love her personality!

What can readers look forward to before reading your book?

A complex and original story with a never seen before and just as complex magic system. Also an original fantasy creature and sport!

What advice would you give to aspiring writers?

Get your story out don’t worry about the grammar, or the consistency. Just get the story out because you can always go back and fix accordingly.

Were there any areas in your novel you struggled to write? If so, how did you overcome those?

I have issues with killing Characters, good or bad and I overcome it with…well time I inchworm through those scenes.

What is your writing process like?

What process lol? I write as it comes to me, essentially the Character guide me through their story!

If your book could be turned into anything (Broadway play, movie, TV show, a dance number, etc.) what would you choose?

TV Series
