Happy Monday! This is going to be a quick post because I’m not feeling that well. But this is what I plan on reading this week.
What are you reading?
A Danger to Herself and Others- Alyssa B. Sheinmel
Only when she’s locked away does the truth begin to escape…
Four walls. One window. No way to escape. Hannah knows there’s been a mistake. She didn’t need to be institutionalized. What happened to her roommate at her summer program was an accident. As soon as the doctors and judge figure out that she isn’t a danger to herself or others, she can go home to start her senior year. In the meantime, she is going to use her persuasive skills to get the staff on her side.
Then Lucy arrives. Lucy has her own baggage. And she may be the only person who can get Hannah to confront the dangerous games and secrets that landed her in confinement in the first place.
The Ruin of Kings- Jenn Lyons
There are the old stories. And then there’s what actually happens.
Kihrin is a bastard orphan who grew up on storybook tales of long-lost princes and grand quests. When he is claimed against his will as the long-lost son of a treasonous prince, Kihrin finds that being a long-lost prince isn’t what the storybooks promised.
Far from living the dream, Kihrin finds himself practically a prisoner, at the mercy of his new family’s power plays and ambitions. He also discovers that the storybooks have lied about a lot of other things, too: dragons, demons, gods, prophecies, true love, and how the hero always wins.
Then again, maybe he’s not the hero, for Kihrin isn’t destined to save the empire.
He’s destined to destroy it . . .
Uniting the worldbuilding of a Brandon Sanderson with the storytelling verve of a Patrick Rothfuss, debut author Jenn Lyons delivers an entirely new and captivating fantasy epic. Prepare to meet the genre’s next star.
Hope you feel better soon! Re-reading The Mists of Avalon myself… nostalgia I guess…

Get well soon! Both of those books sound so interesting (even though they’re very different)—definitely ones to add to my TBR list. I’m currently reading Kingdom of Ashes and planning to finish it this week. It’s going to be strange to see this series finally come to an end!

Thank you!
I’m all over the place when I read books but I haven’t started any of them yet.
It’s always sad to see something you enjoyed coming to an end. I hope you enjoy it.
