Cemetery Boys- Aiden Thomas

52339313. sy475 Yadriel has summoned a ghost, and now he can’t get rid of him.

When his traditional Latinx family has problems accepting his gender, Yadriel becomes determined to prove himself a real brujo. With the help of his cousin and best friend Maritza, he performs the ritual himself, and then sets out to find the ghost of his murdered cousin and set it free.

However, the ghost he summons is actually Julian Diaz, the school’s resident bad boy, and Julian is not about to go quietly into death. He’s determined to find out what happened and tie up some loose ends before he leaves. Left with no choice, Yadriel agrees to help Julian, so that they can both get what they want. But the longer Yadriel spends with Julian, the less he wants to let him leave.

My Review

“We live in gratitude for the guidance and acceptance we can share with one another. We celebrate that we will move forward together as a stronger community than ever before. Put your faith in Lady Death, and in your community, we cannot falter.”

This book has a lot of great things going for it and it instantly grabbed my attention. The cover is simply amazing and that alone made me want to check out this book. The synopsis, title, and diversity made this pure perfection.

Another key factor that caught my attention was the celebration of Dìa de Muertos. I’ve always been fascinated with that celebration and I was excited to read more about it. It’s been a dream of mine to travel to Mexico to fully experience the Day of the Dead. This book brought it to life.

This book was so damn good. I pushed a lot of things aside so I could quickly finish this book. I don’t regret anything because I was mesmerized by the beauty and exquisite complexity that was between these pages.

Julian, Yadriel, and Maritza and some of the best characters that you’ll ever get to experience in a novel. They had a lot of heart and were passionate about supporting their friends and family. The family closeness made me emotional because it was beautiful how connected they all were and so supportive. It’s something that I wish for in my life.

Cemetery Boys is one of the most romantic books that I have ever read. A boy that falls in love with a ghost is a unique story that will capture your heart. If you read one debut novel this year, make it this one. It’s a book that you won’t want to miss.

Also, VapoRub cures everything!!
