Hello and welcome to November.
I’m sad to see October go but November is a very important month. For all of our US friends, please go out and vote!!
This week I’m going to read a book from one of my favorite authors, a book for an upcoming blog tour, and a book that I just received in the mail.
What are you reading?
Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption- Stephen King
#1 New York Times bestselling author Stephen King’s beloved novella, Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption—the basis for the Best Picture Academy Award–nominee The Shawshank Redemption—about an unjustly imprisoned convict who seeks a strangely satisfying revenge, is now available for the first time as a standalone book.
A mesmerizing tale of unjust imprisonment and offbeat escape, Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption is one of Stephen King’s most beloved and iconic stories, and it helped make Castle Rock a place readers would return to over and over again. Suspenseful, mysterious, and heart-wrenching, this iconic King novella, populated by a cast of unforgettable characters, is about a fiercely compelling convict named Andy Dufresne who is seeking his ultimate revenge. Originally published in 1982 in the collection Different Seasons (alongside “The Body,” “Art Pupil,” and “The Breathing Method”), it was made into the film The Shawshank Redemption in 1994. Starring Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins, this modern classic was nominated for seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and is among the most beloved films of all time.
Catfishing on CatNet (CatNet #1)- Naomi Kritzer
How much does the internet know about YOU?
Because her mom is always on the move, Steph hasn’t lived anyplace longer than six months. Her only constant is an online community called CatNet—a social media site where users upload cat pictures—a place she knows she is welcome. What Steph doesn’t know is that the admin of the site, CheshireCat, is a sentient A.I.
When a threat from Steph’s past catches up to her and ChesireCat’s existence is discovered by outsiders, it’s up to Steph and her friends, both online and IRL, to save her.
Kingdom of the Wicked (KotW #1)- Kerri Maniscalco
Two Sisters. One brutal murder.
A quest for vengeance that will unleash Hell itself…
And an intoxicating romance.
Emilia and her twin sister Vittoria are streghe – witches who live secretly among humans, avoiding notice and persecution. One night, Vittoria misses dinner service at the family’s renowned Sicilian restaurant. Emilia soon finds the body of her beloved twin…desecrated beyond belief. Devastated, Emilia sets out to find her sister’s killer and to seek vengeance at any cost-even if it means using dark magic that’s been long forbidden.
Then Emilia meets Wrath, one of the Wicked-princes of Hell she has been warned against in tales since she was a child. Wrath claims to be on Emilia’s side, tasked by his master with solving the series of women’s murders on the island. But when it comes to the Wicked, nothing is as it seems…
I recently finished reading Kingdom of the Wicked and it was definitely entertaining 😍 Oh, and I’m reading Black Sun by Rebecca Roanhorse ♥

I can’t either. I always find out about book boxes from friends or on IG. My bank account doesn’t like it too much lol

I try to stay off my bookish IG for this reason lol. I love Owlcrate but the price increase hurts lol

Bookish IG always pops up with so many things that I want to buy. And Etsy is another place where I find too much that I want. Lol
Owlcrate seems to be getting more and more expensive as time goes on. November will be my last box with them.

I’m honestly debating if I should keep it after this year. I’ve had it for so long but $40/box? I really don’t know.
OMG I’ve had my Etsy account since 2008, it’s so crazy to see how many things I’ve “saved for later” over the years! There’s so many unique items there!
And agreed with the IG book community! I love supporting small business and all the indie bookish candles and bookmarks are my weakness!

40$ a box is steep for Owlcrate since their fandom items aren’t that great sometimes. It’s a tough decision to make.
Etsy was my go to when my job was closed down for a few weeks. There really is so many amazing items on there. I look everyday to see what’s new.
Me and you both. I just purchased a bookmark with hot pink skulls with a shimmery gold finish and it is so beautiful. I’m obsessed with bookmarks.
