Hello and welcome to a very rainy Monday.
I don’t know about you but I love the rain. Even though the nasty weather hurts the metal plate in my hand. I’l take a thunderstorm over sunshine any day.
This week I’m going to read an e-arc that the publisher sent to me via Netgalley, a Scholastic thriller, a bizarre sequel to a strange series, and a manga that I borrowed from the Library.
What are you reading this week?
The Therapist- B.A. Paris
The multimillion-copy New York Times bestselling author B.A. Paris returns to her heartland of gripping psychological suspense in The Therapist–a powerful tale of a house that holds a shocking secret.
When Alice and Leo move into a newly renovated house in The Circle, a gated community of exclusive houses, it is everything they’ve dreamed of. But appearances can be deceptive…
As Alice is getting to know her neighbours, she discovers a devastating secret about her new home, and begins to feel a strong connection with Nina, the therapist who lived there before.
Alice becomes obsessed with trying to piece together what happened two years before. But no one wants to talk about it. Her neighbors are keeping secrets and things are not as perfect as they seem…
The Warnings- Margaret Buffie
Rachel leads a lonely life with the old people she calls the Fossils until she starts to receive the Warnings, strange psychic messages that let her know of a grave threat.
Petals on the Wind (Dollanganger #2)- V.C. Andrews
They were such brave children to withstand such suffering. Such clever children to escape such terror!
For Carrie, Chris and Cathy, the attic was a dark horror that would not leave their minds, even while they built bright, promising new lives. Of course mother had to pretend they didn’t exist.
And Grandmother was convinced they had the devil in them.
But that wasn’t their fault. Was it? Cathy knew what to do.
She now had the powers she had learned from her beautiful mother. She knew it in the way her brother still yearned for her, in the way her guardian touched her, in the way all men looked at her.
She knew it was time to put what she knew to the test. To show her mother and grandmother that the pain and terror of the attic could not be forgotten… Show them.
Show them—once and for all.
I Want to Eat Your Pancreas- Yoru Sumino
A Bittersweet Romance
In this deeply moving first-person story, an introverted high school boy finds his classmate’s diary―and learns her biggest secret. Yamauchi Sakura is dying from a pancreatic disease and now he is the only one person outside her family to know the truth. The last thing the boy wants is to be her friend, but Sakura’s cheerful demeanor and their shared secret draw them together in this heartrending tale of friendship and mortality.
I’m reading A Perfectly Fine House and Uzumaki right now. I don’t usually read two things at the same time, but since they are different formats it seems to work. Hope you have a great reading week!
