Good Morning, Readers!
How is everyone? I hope all is well and that you’re doing great.
I’m still ill, so I haven’t been reading much at all. I’ve been watching some trashy tv shows like 90 Day Fiancé and Ghost Brothers. It’s something I can do as I prop a pillow near my neck.
This week is going to be a small reading week as I try to recover from whatever is going on with me. I’m going to read a YA Horror book about Vampires that takes place in New Orleans, and a forbidden romance book.
What are you reading this week?
Mina and the Undead- Amy McCaw
New Orleans Fang Fest, 1995.
Mina’s having a summer to die for.
17-year-old Mina, from England, arrives in New Orleans to visit her estranged sister, Libby. After growing up in Whitby, the town that inspired Dracula, Mina loves nothing more than a creepy horror movie. She can’t wait to explore the city’s darkest secrets – vampire tours, seedy bars, spooky cemeteries, disturbing local myths…
And it gets even better when Mina lands a part-time job at a horror movie mansion and meets Jared, Libby’s gorgeous housemate, co-worker and fellow horror enthusiast.
But the perfect summer bliss is broken when, while exploring the mansion, Mina stumbles upon the body of a girl with puncture marks on her neck, clutching a lock of hair that suspiciously resembles Libby’s… Someone is replicating New Orleans’ most brutal supernatural killings. Mina must discover the truth and prove her sister’s innocence before she becomes the victim of another myth.
Sweet Dandelion- Micalea Smeltzer
Dandelion Meadows is cursed.
Horrible name.
Horrible luck.
At eighteen she should be headed off to college, all smiles and naivety.
Instead, a victim of a school shooting, she’s starting her senior year in a new city and living with her brother.
Nightmares of that terrible day haunt her, affecting her daily life and the relationships around her.
Forced to meet with the school counselor, Dani finds him chipping away at the walls she’s built around herself, and even her heart.
Lachlan Taylor doesn’t know what to make at first of the broken student he’s tasked with helping. She’s survived a trauma he’s not sure he can save her from, but he knows he has to try.
The more time they spend together, the more they learn about what it really means to live.
Some things are forbidden.
Some things are necessary for survival.
Their love is both.
I just finished an ARC of SISTERS OF THE SNAKE- so good! And my copy of SHIPPED should arrive tomorrow- can’t wait!
