My Review

It’s true, I’ve loved every Adrienne Young book so far. And Namesake is no different. Except that, honestly, it slightly is. This book is a rare gem, where it shines brighter than its predecessor. I loved this book more than Fable, which is a bit shocking for me because I tend to love beginnings. But Namesake is just beautiful in and out and wonderfully tied up Fable’s story.

Fable was perfect and a breath of fresh air. While she is strong and capable, she’s soft and emotional, but always trying to hide that side of her due to the world she lives in. She grew so much in Fable, but her character growth soared even higher in Namesake. She knew more of her worth in the sequel, which I absolutely loved. She’s always been on her own, but this book illustrated that she doesn’t have to be, not when she’s found family. Yes, Fable has a father but in the first book, he wasn’t a positive presence. Though, I won’t lie, I enjoyed his scenes in Namesake because of how much character progression Fable experienced. She came into her own person in this book: independent and strong and smart, but also trust worthy and loving to those close to her. She figured out her worth in Namesake and that was the best part of this book.

And Fable and West…just perfect. There’s no words to describe these two but perfect. They’re a relationship I will forever root for; both bring out the best in each other and I could feel how much they cared about one another. I also loved the relationship dynamics with Fable’s friends from the first book. I really liked that Young not only gave us a love story but also found friendship.

The world building is just *chef’s kiss.” Oh my goodness does Adrienne Young know how to build a world. It’s dangerous yet beautiful, rocky yet calm when it needs to be. Every scene was so vividly displayed in my mind that it could have easily been real right before my eyes. I could not get enough of this world and the characters. Everything was so just spectacular and raw – it was a gem of a book.

As always, the writing is exquisite and so lush. Young hits you with a wave of emotions in every chapter, always making sure you’re emotionally connected to Fable’s story. The emotions, romantic moments…just everything dives off the page. It all felt so real. Young does an outstanding job continuing Fable’s story. I could not get enough of the writing, characters, and phenomenal world building.

Fable was a fantastic book, but Namesake was the sequel that found a place closer to my heart. With a sea of emotions and wonderful character development, fast-paced scenes and danger at every turn, your bound to fall in love with Namesake, especially if you loved Fable. Namesake is a tale that does not disappoint.
