Good morning and happy Monday!
I hope everyone is doing great and reading amazing books.
Halloween is right around the corner and I’m so excited. If you have any spooky books to recommend, please share.
This week I’m going to read a ya slasher book, a graphic novel that I’ve had sitting on my shelves for quite some time, and a non-fiction book about the rise of black metal.
What are you reading this week?
Tastes Like Candy- Ivy Tholen
Everyone at Pritchett High wants an invitation to the Senior Scavenge. In 2020, Violet Warren and her friends are the lucky ones. Eight girls will break into the Poison Apple Carnival after hours for a scavenger hunt, then at sunrise they’ll gather for a celebration in honor of their upcoming senior year.
But someone else has another game planned. Minutes after the girls sneak into the carnival, a madman in a rubber mask begins slashing his way through the group and Violet quickly realizes his motives are personal. As she watches her friends die in a series of increasingly bizarre attacks, she must fight to survive while trying to answer the question: What could she have done to earn a fast-pass for a roller coaster ride straight to hell?
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Vol. 1- Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa
On the eve of her sixteenth birthday, the young sorceress Sabrina Spellman finds herself at a crossroads, having to choose between an unearthly destiny and her mortal boyfriend, Harvey. But a foe from her family’s past has arrived in Greendale, Madame Satan, and she has her own deadly agenda. Archie Comics’ latest horror sensation starts here! For TEEN+ readers. Compiles the first five issues of the ongoing comic book series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.
Lords of Chaos: The Bloody Rise of the Satanic Metal Underground- Michael Moynihan
The 2003 edition of LORDS OF CHAOS is revised and expanded, adding fifty new pages, detailing outbreaks of Black Metal crime in Finland, Germany and the United States; and includes the secret history of occult Rock, a new section on Varg Vikernes’ promulgation of bizarre Aryan UFO theories, and material on the career of Hendrik Mobus, an international neo-Nazi fugitive. This award-winning exposé features hundreds of rare photos and exclusive interrogations with priests, police officers, Satanists, and leaders of demonic bands who believe the greater evil spawns the greatest glory.
OOoh nice! I love a good YA thriller! For some reason I tend to enjoy them more than adult ones. Though I still enjoy those too! Guess I’ve just had good luck with picking YA ones lately! Lol. Hope you enjoy all the reads this week!
Here’s my Monday Wrap-up
Have a GREAT day!
