Synopsis:

Rosie Thorne and her father have been short on luck–and money–for years. So when she loses her grocery store job in a heated moment of smashing the patriarchy, she knows she may be forced to give up on her dream of leaving her small town for a prestigious college creative writing program.

On the other hand, Vance Reigns has been Hollywood royalty for as long as Rosie’s been clipping coupons and secretly writing massively popular fanfiction. When a tabloid scandal catches up to him, he’s forced to hide out somewhere the paparazzi would never expect to find him: Small Town USA.

Rosie and Vance’s paths collide in a chance encounter, and suddenly cataloging the Starfield Library at Vance’s manor house is Rosie’s only shot at saving money for school. And while most Starfield superfans would jump at the chance to work in close proximity to Vance, Rosie has realized something about Vance: he’s a huge jerk, and she can’t stand him.

Still, there may be more to Vance than meets the eye. As Rosie and Vance begrudgingly get to know each other, secrets are revealed that could change their minds–and their hearts–forever.

*Arc review* Princess and the fan girl by Ashley poston

Oh, my stars! This book is one of my drop everything and read and I did just that. Skipping on 2 other books that I’ve started.

This book was so nice to be part in it since geekerella is one of my top 3 contemporaries. But the story starts out with Jessica, the other lead cast of the movie and is not happy that she doesn’t want the role at all. An interviewer was bickering her for questions and jess answers one with true answer that’s not supposed to so after runs to the bathroom and crashes into Imogen Lovelace extreme fangirl and the lead for wanting jess in the movie. Well after the bathroom a mishap happens and Imogen is now in a panel as jess. So after that they decide to switch places for the con.

My feelings on the story.

Like said I loved being back in this world. To all the nerdy things to just the excitement. The start of the story starts off a tad bland since jess is just always a grump and wants nothing to do with the movie or fandom and Imogen is trying hard to be like jess would act while adding her own flare. And this goes thru 50% of the book which each character being snooty and not much chatter with other characters happens. But by 50% the book finally has its flare that I loved in geekerella. The fandom, the things you experience in a book just like you were in world its self and top it all if set your mind to it you can do it. With of course help and your never alone.

For this book character arcs:

Like the story, at first, I thought was a tad flawed. Since how can anyone start to like or even be friends since Imogen and jess and side characters minus one all grumpy. So as goes on not sure how they sorta let go of grumpiness to be friends. But the action of trying to make the book being solved I enjoyed. Soo with all of that I gotta give a book a 4 star rating. Bad start to good latter half book you expect in a book of geekerella. So this won’t be a fav but geekerella will be and glad the second book in this world. 4/5

“We aren’t alone, I say quietly, liking how the words fit around my lips. If this is the impossible universe, then I hope tonight was the good sort of impossible. I want to believe.”

As we all know, retellings usually disappoint me. They do the original no justice and I’m left wanting to kick the book into outer space, but this book right here changes everything. It took the original story a step further and added Con flare to the picture. It has all our nerd-girl hearts on overdrive.

I wasn’t expecting to feel a deep level relatability with this one, maybe a quick fangirl freakout but nothing to this magnitude. I might have felt goosebumps rise up my arms and a few tears fall on my precious arc copy.

From page one, you instantly connect with Elle and feel what she feels. The torment from her stepsisters and stepmom, the heartache from losing her parents at a young age, and the fandom she lives and breathes on.

The twist text communication between Elle and Darien was absolute genius on her part and I tip my hat to you. Everything seemed to fit into place perfectly and I wouldn’t change a thing.

If you want an emotional roller coaster of feels, secret texting, sabotage, and epic cons, then this story is for you. Hell, who am I kidding? Everyone should read this. This is not your typical retelling!

“I might not be there and you might not be here, but I’m glad to share the same sky with you. Maybe we should start looking up together.”

Best books of 2016 part 2 months 7-12

This book was wow as said going in I didn’t know what to expect and was sooo amazing the couple was so good with right amount of chatting and action and worry to be up there for fav read.

2.shadow run by Adrianne Strickland

This book is very spacey not something I like, but has battle of royality with a love that shouldn’t happen and with action scenes in between with betrayals. This book holy gosh sooo good and is out in a few more weeks :).

3.the wish granter by cj redwine

This book going in thought maybe would be hard since hadn’t read the orginal fairy tale but man I was blown away and look foward to reading the shadow queen. I said that a few months back but I’m bad about that.

4.blood for blood by Ryan graudin

Book 2 of wolf by wolf series and starts where last book left of in this retelling of WW2. One reason made it a fav is that ending oh man it’s bad so def give this series a read.

5.an ember in the ashes/ a torch against the night by Sabah Tahir

These books are the best mixed of fantasy aspect with dystopian. They were def a lot of people’s fav read for them for 2015/2016 so if haven’t started this you should.

6.holding up the universe by Jennifer Niven

This book I was unsure going in if I would lik this since was unsure if would bean other sad book by her or not but it’s a cute fluffy read and you learn about rare disorder in someone who can’t remember things, but yea ❤

7. Scythe by Neil shustermen

This book by itself is not as spooky as thing it would be but makes you think of life and I can say loved loved this book and what more would it be to be a scythe and “glean” people. Look foward to book 2 out of three in this series.

8. The diabolic by s.j Kincaid

This book going in was unsure since was near practically my first sci fi books but I loved it, starts out a tad confusing and maybe slow for some but it was so popular it’s getting a second book to the series so yay :).

9.ordinary Magic by Caitlin bradway

This book is like Harry Potter big time minus instead the world being muggles and Magic hidden it’s the oppsite and everyone is magical but get like people are don’t and called ords or ordinary and there basically shunned in the world plus also kidnapped or eaten since ords can do things magic peeps can’t or the monsters enjoy ords since easy prey.
