~The Page 69 Test~ Broken Things- Lauren Oliver

The Page 69 TestHappy Thursday! Today I’m going to give you a sneak peak on an upcoming novel coming out in October. I hope you enjoy!

My co-bloggers and I have started a new weekly blog post: The Page 69 Test! Have you heard of the page 69 test? If not, it’s basically where you read page 69 of a book you think you will like. If you liked reading page 69, chances are you will enjoy reading the rest of the book.

Instead of posting the full page, we will be posting the first 10-20 lines of that page,                                                                                            starting with the first full sentence.

This week I went with a book that I’m currently reading. It’s definitely an odd one and a great read for the spooky month of October. We all know and love Lauren Oliver but this is something completely different than what she is used to writing. I really hope you guys enjoy!

“I don’t stop until I’ve rounded the corner and turned onto Waldmann Lane, where I’m concealed by the thick growth on either side of the road. I drop my duffel, cursing, rolling the pain out of my shoudler. There’s a chalky taste in my mouth. Goddamn Marcy. Goddamn prepubescent fireman, Goddamn Twin lakes.

I remember one time toward the end of the school year in sixth grade, when it was too hot to go to Lovelorn, too hot to do anything but lie across my bed reading magazines and taking quizzes online with the AC on full blast, Summer said her biggest fear was of being forgotten. That’s why she was going to be a model and then write and star in her own TV show. If you weren’t famous, Summer argued, if no one remembered you, you might as well not have lived at all. I understood her point, even though I’d never wanted to be famous.

But Sumer hadn’t thought it all out. She didn’t realize how much depends on what you’re remembered for. Sometimes, it’s so much better to be forgotten.”

img_4960      It’s been five years since Summer Marks was brutally murdered in the woods.

Everyone thinks Mia and Brynn killed their best friend. That driven by their obsession with a novel called The Way into Lovelorn the three girls had imagined themselves into the magical world where their fantasies became twisted, even deadly.

The only thing is: they didn’t do it.

On the anniversary of Summer’s death, a seemingly insignificant discovery resurrects the mystery and pulls Mia and Brynn back together once again. But as the lines begin to blur between past and present and fiction and reality, the girls must confront what really happened in the woods                                                                    all those years ago—no matter how monstrous.

It’s Monday, What Are You Reading?

Happy Monday!

It’s going to be a very long week and I’m ready for it to be over.

Haven’t done a Monday post in awhile and thought it was time for one.

This week I plan on Reading:

Hot Pterodactyl Boyfriend- Alan Cumyn

People have been telling me that I need to read this because they are dying to read my review. Well, it’s coming soon…..

Broken Things- Lauren Oliver

I’ve had this arc since May and I can’t believe it took me this long to attempt to read it.

Communion- Frank Lauria

And finally, I wanted to read something creepy and I think this fits the month. Alice Sweet Alice was such a crazy movie that I’m hoping this will be even better.

What do you plan on reading this week?
