It’s Monday, What Are You Reading?

Happy Monday!

It’s going to be a very long week and I’m ready for it to be over.

Haven’t done a Monday post in awhile and thought it was time for one.

This week I plan on Reading:

Hot Pterodactyl Boyfriend- Alan Cumyn

People have been telling me that I need to read this because they are dying to read my review. Well, it’s coming soon…..

Broken Things- Lauren Oliver

I’ve had this arc since May and I can’t believe it took me this long to attempt to read it.

Communion- Frank Lauria

And finally, I wanted to read something creepy and I think this fits the month. Alice Sweet Alice was such a crazy movie that I’m hoping this will be even better.

What do you plan on reading this week?

My October Wrap-Up

I cannot believe October is just about over! Where is the time going? It feels like it was just summer, but summer always goes by way too fast.

October was a pretty rough month. In the sense that I barely had any time to read. I’ve started Christmas shopping and handmaking gifts for family members. I’ve also been scrambling trying to have everything in order for Nanowrimo. I am beyond excited to start writing my novel tomorrow (I’m one of those people that, yes, waits until November 1 to start their novel, since some people start writing in October, which is not a bad thing).

Even though October has been busy, I have been able to dedicate some time to reading. I managed to finish three books, which for me is not that bad since I am a decently fast reader, I just lack the available time to read.

Rosemarked

The first book I read in October was Rosemarked by Livia Blackburne. My review is coming soon (hopefully in the next couple of days if Nanowrimo does not take control of my life) so keep a look out! This was not a bad read, it just took me a while to get drawn into the setting and plot. I am huge on action scenes, and there was not much in the book, but nonetheless, the main character was strong and brave, and definitely someone I would look up to.

My rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars.

FrostbloodThe second book I finished was Frostblood by Elly Blake. This has been one of my most anticipated books to read and I FINALLY had the chance to read it. I loved this book! I really enjoyed the novel being from Ruby’s point of view, but I also liked the complexity of the book and how the plot kept thickening until the last page. I plan on reading the second book soon (as well as posting my review of Frostblood), especially since I get to meet Elly Blake Sunday. I am super excited to meet her, along with a TON of YA authors and Anderson’s Bookshop YA Frenzy!!

My rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Darkest StarsAnd the final book, which I happened to finish today, was Even the Darkest Stars by Heather Fawcett. Isn’t that cover absolutely stunning?! When I first heard of this book, I had high expectations. Unfortunately, those expectations were not quite met, but I was overall very pleased with the story. The worldbuilding is phenomenal and breathtaking! My full review will be posted in the coming days (along with Rosemarked and Frostblood).

My rating: 4 out of 5 stars

I, unfortunately, did not attend any fun author signings or book events this month, but November is jam-packed with events EVERY WEEKEND. One of those events is YallFest in South Carolina and I am absolutely stoked! I had so much fun at YallFest last year and I know this year is going to be even better!

If you’re attending YallFest,

HAPPY HALLOWEEN! What are you dressing up as tonight? I have school tonight so no dress up for me, but I’d totally dress up as a Witch.
