*First Line Friday 6/7/19* These Witches Don’t Burn- Isabel Sterling

42729348“Infused with page-turning suspense, bittersweet romance, shocking twists, and tragic turns, Sterling has written a standout debut.” –Dana Mele, author of People Like Us

Hannah’s a witch, but not the kind you’re thinking of. She’s the real deal, an Elemental with the power to control fire, earth, water, and air. But even though she lives in Salem, Massachusetts, her magic is a secret she has to keep to herself. If she’s ever caught using it in front of a Reg (read: non-witch), she could lose it. For good. So, Hannah spends most of her time avoiding her ex-girlfriend (and fellow Elemental Witch) Veronica, hanging out with her best friend, and working at the Fly By Night Cauldron selling candles and crystals to tourists, goths, and local Wiccans.

But dealing with her ex is the least of Hannah’s concerns when a terrifying blood ritual interrupts the end-of-school-year bonfire. Evidence of dark magic begins to appear all over Salem, and Hannah’s sure it’s the work of a deadly Blood Witch. The issue is, her coven is less than convinced, forcing Hannah to team up with the last person she wants to see: Veronica.

While the pair attempt to smoke out the Blood Witch at a house party, Hannah meets Morgan, a cute new ballerina in town. But trying to date amid a supernatural crisis is easier said than done, and Hannah will have to test the limits of her power if she’s going to save her coven and get the girl, especially when the attacks on Salem’s witches become deadlier by the day.

Isabel Sterling’s delightful, suspenseful debut is equal parts sweet romance and thrilling mystery. With everything she loves on the line, Hannah must confront this murderous villain before her coven–and any chance she has with the new girl–is destroyed.

It’s Monday, What Are You Reading? 2/25/19

Good Afternoon! It’s Monday…. yet again and this is what I hope to read this week.

What are you planning to read this week?

Vengeful- V.E. Schwab

40139338     Eli Ever and Victor Vale were only medical students when their mutual discovery that near-death experiences can, under the right conditions, manifest extraordinary abilities.

They were best friends, and rivals, and then enemies. They were dead, then alive, and then—Eli killed Victor, once and for all.

Or so he thought—but Sydney Clarke felt otherwise, and used her own superpower to tip the scales. Now, a trio hides in the shadows, while another takes advantages of post-death life to take over the city of Merit.

If there can be life after death—will there be calm after vengeance, or will chaos rule?

The Haunted- Danielle Vega

40818627     From Danielle Vega, YA’s answer to Stephen King, comes a new paranormal novel about dark family secrets, deep-seated vengeance, and the horrifying truth that evil often lurks in the unlikeliest of places.

Hendricks Becker-O’Malley is new in town, and she’s bringing baggage with her. With a dark and wild past, Hendricks doesn’t think the small town her parents moved her to has much to offer her in terms of excitement. She plans on laying low, but when she’s suddenly welcomed into the popular crowd at school, things don’t go as expected.

Hendricks learns from her new friends that the fixer-upper her parents are so excited about is notorious in town. Local legend says it’s haunted. Hendricks doesn’t believe it. Until she’s forced to. Blood-curdling screams erupt from the basement, her little brother wakes up covered in scratches, and something, or someone pushes her dad down the stairs. With help from the mysterious boy next door, Hendricks makes it her mission to take down the ghosts . . . if they don’t take her first.

Fat Angie: Rebel Girl Revolution- E.E. Charlton-Trujillo

40879919     More trouble at school and at home — and the discovery of a missive from her late soldier sister — send Angie and a long-ago friend on an RV road trip across Ohio.

Sophomore year has just begun, and Angie is miserable. Her girlfriend, KC, has moved away; her good friend, Jake, is keeping his distance; and the resident bully has ramped up an increasingly vicious and targeted campaign to humiliate her. An over-the-top statue dedication planned for her sister, who died in Iraq, is almost too much to bear, and it doesn’t help that her mother has placed a symbolic empty urn on their mantel. At the ceremony, a soldier hands Angie a final letter from her sister, including a list of places she wanted the two of them to visit when she got home from the war. With her mother threatening to send Angie to a “treatment center” and the situation at school becoming violent, Angie enlists the help of her estranged childhood friend, Jamboree. Along with a few other outsiders, they pack into an RV and head across the state on the road trip Angie’s sister did not live to take. It might be just what Angie needs to find a way to let her sister go, and find herself in the process.

Richelle mead signing

Richelle mead is my fav author and should of seen me when new schedule was being put up and I saw I had not 1 but both days Richelle was in a area both times I danced around my break room happy as all get out. But day of 8-26-18 was in collegeville pa. A town about 40 mins west of Philadelphia. I get there and what do I see this place serves wine and my first book store that ever did!!

Soo chilling reading waiting. About 4 some other people come for the signing so get talking with them and was nice. Finally the signing happens. Richelle comes out. It’s always funny no matter what signing someone is afraid to ask there question. I have read the emerald sea already so I asked while also being kind to others who have not read it I said did you intend to write a character in emerald to be professor umbridge in hp. She said no but as think of it now seems similar. But more on puritans sorta life base. Then few others went on then Richelle asked Day before her signing she did a q&a on Reddit and she announced what she is writing next, she asked who of us have read it. I rose my hand and Richelle was out loud typical you have to me and mind you still at the signing. But shocking no one at the signing had besides me. Then rest were majority Vampire academy based. Which Richelle couldn’t say much. But yea then went to signing part and got all my arcs, manuscript and rare edition books signed

Plus Forgot soundless in the pic.

Lady we got posters for the glittering court that was rad!!

But that was my day. I loved every moment and hopefully meet Richelle again.

*ARC REVIEW*The kiss quotient by Helen Hoang

I was able to read this book early in thanks to the first to read program by Penguin.

Going into this book, I already know I’m in a book slump. Lately, I haven’t read many books that I enjoyed. But this book helped me out.

It’s about a woman, Stella Lane who is near 30, has a steady job and has her own place. I think all is good but only down fall she has no boyfriend or had one and her family is asking for grand kids. Only issue though is she doesn’t like sex like at all, she doesn’t enjoy it and she thinks it shows. Other she is not afraid to tell people but doesn’t want to be treated differently since she has Aspergers. So to get better at sec life so can appease a guy she hires a escort to teach her how to get better. This is where Micheal Phan comes in who is half Vietnamese half Swedish. This story is told in both perspectives which I always love more than one side. But slowly thru the story he helps her in her own ways to learn. But like any friends with benifts or this case paid feelings get involved. But what is nice besides the love interest mike helps Stella see more of the world and get out of her routine she has since all she wants to do is work and sleep pretty much. Though some of these can be distraous I can say from first hand from being special ed like myself to my friends who have aspergers to many things at once or to loud can lead to huge melt down. One person needs to have a support system so thru this cute story you learn their story & to those that don’t help the case. So a cute little story I enjoyed for a debut novel from Helen that I loved and is 5/5 stars from me.
