*Review* After We Collided (After #2)- Anna Todd

22540125Tessa has everything to lose. Hardin has nothing to lose… except her.

After a tumultuous beginning to their relationship, Tessa and Hardin were on the path to making things work. Tessa knew Hardin could be cruel, but when a bombshell revelation is dropped about the origins of their relationship—and Hardin’s mysterious past—Tessa is beside herself.

Hardin will always be… Hardin. But is he really the deep, thoughtful guy Tessa fell madly in love with despite his angry exterior—or has he been a stranger all along? She wishes she could walk away. It’s just not that easy. Not with the memory of passionate nights spent in his arms. His electric touch. His hungry kisses.

Still, Tessa’s not sure she can endure one more broken promise. She put so much on hold for Hardin—school, friends, her mom, a relationship with a guy who really loved her, and now possibly even a promising new career. She needs to move forward with her life.

Hardin knows he made a mistake, possibly the biggest one of his life. He’s not going down without a fight. But can he change? Will he change for love?

Book Two of the After series—now newly revised and expanded, Anna Todd’s After fan-fiction racked up 1 billion reads online and captivated readers across the globe. Experience the Internet’s most talked-about book for yourself!

My Review

“The best thing about reading is to escape from your life, to be able to live hundreds or even thousands of different lives.”

Have you ever been somewhere and you notice a couple start to argue? You try not to look directly at it but you slowly turn your ear that way to listen and side-eye them the entire time? You know that you should mind your own business but you’re pulled towards the drama? That situation is this entire book.

My skin crawled through most of this book. This is not a healthy relationship, not even close. It’s messy, toxic, and downright cringey.

People swoon over the bad boy, Hardin but he’s not romantic in the slightest. He’s fucking abusive. Tessa fears for what Hardin will do after they argue. She thinks things through before she speaks because she’s terrified of the outcome due to Hardin’s temper. Walking on eggshells is not how you should live your life. Making excuses for someone’s toxic behavior is another thing you shouldn’t do.

If you’re in a relationship and similar things are happening, it’s time to get out. You should be with someone who sweeps you off of your feet, allows you to have friends of the opposite sex, and won’t blow up at any little issue. Reach out to someone you trust. Just because someone is good in bed, doesn’t mean that you should put up with the fear that your partner causes.

After We Collided was a mess of a read and a complete disaster. This is where my journey ends with Tessa and Hardin. I don’t think it’s okay to glorify abusive relationships and I won’t waste my time on something so horrible.

There is nothing better than a great cup of coffee and an even better book.

  1. Probably a good decision to skip out on this series. I had the same feelings about Hardin and this relationship. I kept reading, though. I was super frustrated, but I needed her to grow a backbone and to see that happen. (SPOILER — it doesn’t for a LONG time.) If you’re curious about how things continue, I think I ranted about the entire series.

    1. I had that thought that I was going to keep reading but this book made me sick to my stomach. It was worse when I remembered that it was a Harry Styles fan fiction. That scared me because this makes Anna Todd sound like a psycho.
I’ll check out your rant 😉

      1. So I didn’t know it was One Direction fan fiction until after I started reading the series and a friend told me. It was even worse then! The sad thing is Anna Todd seems really nice from everything I’ve read about her.
